Children quotes

"All policemen carry are guns and doughnuts."
~Joe

In the morning Lydia likes to jump on us to wake us up. One morning Hannah was feeling particularity tired, and she told Lydia to jump on me. Lydia replied, "Susanna's no fun. Hannah's more dramatic; she screams when I jump on her."

Christian Heritage Home Educators of Washington 2010 Conference

This past weekend was the Christian Heritage Home School conference! It went wonderfully well, and the speakers were very good. We all volunteered this year-Sarah worked with Stephen and John Hainline at the CD booth, Jon was security, and Laura, Hannah, Rebekah, and I worked in registration. In my humble opinion, (=D) it was the best job since we just had to stay at the front table and got to see everyone. I worked with some really great people and got to know another Susanna C. better.=) Unfortunately, I only got to listen to two sessions, but I really enjoyed my job!. I also really enjoyed the choral - it went very well!

We accidentally left Laura's and the family's cameras at the church so the only pictures we have of the trip have been circulated around on all the blogs, so I won't post them here.=)

Scrap booking with Krista

On Saturday, Krista came over and we did scrap booking together.

Holding up our finished scrap book pages. Mine are WWII pictures and posters and Krista's is horses.

Together in the midst of our mess.

A lady asked Joel Salitin and two of his apprentices, "Here you are, three intelligent, gifted young men. What on earth would make you want to farm?"

Joel replies, "Because it is the noblest vocation on earth and the one that ultimately controls the destiny of the planet."

Lord Jesus

Lord when I came to you
All things became new
But it seems like the 'old man,' he really wants to stay
And though you live inside, in you I must abide
Yielded each moment so I can go your way

CHORUS
Lord Jesus take me, remake me
Let you love shine through me
Lord Jesus hold me and mold me
Into the person you want me to be

Lord, I give you the task
Of pulling off the mask
I wear in front of others each and every day
And would you please reveal the things that are concealed
Make your word more real to me
So I can know your ways

CHORUS

I know your word is true
So help me trust in you
Guide my thoughts and actions
And the words I say
And would you do your part
To come and change my heart
So when I am with others
They'll see that you're the way

CHORUS

Our Garden!

Freshly planted raised beds of peas, carrots, radishes, beats, and spinach!

Chicks!

100 Barred rock and 1oo white rock chicks.
The barred rock are Jon's broilers.

We're Farmers!

Our garden

The garlic's growing tall!
I'm not sure what this is...maybe an onion? Whatever it is, it's growing out of the same raised bed that the garlic is growing out of.

I think these are chives...tell me if I'm wrong, Krissy.=)

Parsley (Notice Peter Rabbit coming to eat the parsley)

Our decomposed compost bin. We started composting last summer and it cut our garbage bill in half! We compost everything we eat and everything we eat off that's not reusable.=) And they don't smell too bad, either! (Notice the spinach plant growing out the side!)

Inside our other bin. We layer the table scraps with straw so it will decompose quicker.

And of course, every farm has a dog.

And chickens! (This chick, unfortunately, is not one of our barred rock chicks, but I haven't any good pictures of ours.)
