You do look like a farm girl! That happened to us a couple times. And one of our chickens actually went into our neighbors tree.
Wow, I wonder if Bard Rocks have a universal escape problem. We had/have a little hen that looks and acts just like yours! Until we moved our chickens to an electrical pen our bard Rock was getting out (and putting herself back) several times a day.
It wasn't too bad until the other hens started following her example... :)
